New Curbs ground vehicles to an halt on E-City Expressway
Bengaluru: Commuters were stuck for hours on E-City elevated highway as traffic ground to a halt during peak hours on Tuesday. The holdup lasted up to two hours at some points during the day due to the traffic restrictions imposed by Bangalore Elevated Tollway Private Limited (BETPL) in a recent statement reading “ As per National Highways Authority of India instructions and the concession agreement, periodic maintenance of expansion joints is due and has to be completed before March 15, 2019”
As per the curbs, the flyover is closed for all heavy vehicles, including Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation(BMTC) buses, private or hired buses, and Tamil Nadu State Transport(TNSTC) buses.
Electronics City traffic police station report that personnel were posted at every junction between Silk Board and E-City to ease congestion. Many were unaware of the traffic diversions despite several emails and social media interactions.
Daily commuters between Silk Road Junction and E-City pointed out the ongoing Metro work near BTM layout and the junction worsening the congestion. As this harrowing commuter experience unfolds, many are hoping the government can reduce the inconveniences caused by the roads.
