Man shot dead over old enmity
New Delhi: A 38-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by two bike-borne men in northeast Delhi's Dayalpur area, police said on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Subhash Rawat, a resident of Dayalpur, they said. He was working as a cable operator, they added. “Police received a call at around 9.45 pm on Thursday where the caller stated that his associate has been shot at and he was rushing him to the GTB hospital,” Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast), said.
Rawat’s associate, who was travelling with him in a car, told the police that two bike-borne men fired at his friend when he was on his way home near Bhrijpuri, the DCP said. Rawat received bullet injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead, he said.
Police have apprehended two men and the reason behind the murder seems to be an old enmity, Thakur said. We are checking the CCTV footage to ascertain the sequence of events, he added.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Dayalpur Police Station, the officer said.
