Strong AP team for National rugby
Kurnool: The two-day National Rugby Championship that is being hosted in Secunderabad on Friday and Saturday will have a team from Andhra Pradesh that will aim to corner glory. This was announced by the State Rugby unit General Secretary, C Ramanjaneyulu, who told reporters here on Wednesday that the team was al geared up for the challenges that await them.
He said they had picked the cream of rugby talent from State during the selection trials for players from all 13 districts that were conducted earlier in the day at Adarsha Vidya Mandir. He said that the sport was gaining momentum in Kurnool, which has won laurels for conducting several national and international sports events. Adarsha Educational Institutions founder, B Thimmaiah, director, Dr Hari Kishan, Principal, Madhavi , district rugby president G Surender and others participated in the selection process.
Squad: Girls: Rama Devi and Gopika Shreya (both Nellore), D Sireesha (Guntur), Swapna (Prakasam), Meghana (Anantapur), Dhrakshayani (Chittoor), Hanshika, Manjula and Akhila (all Kurnool), Pallavi and Jasmin (both Krishna); Manager: John Datta Rao; Boys: Vara Prasad, Bharat (both Guntur), Venkat Manohar, Siraj (both Nellore), Teja (Chittoor), Naushad (Anantapur), Ashok (Prakasam), Srikanth Reddy (Kadapa), Saleem, Upendra, G Sumanth and Vikram (all from Kurnool).
