MI let down Tendulkar on his birthday

Mumbai: It was definitely not the sort of treat that Sachin Tendulkar wanted from his boys on his 45th birthday.

The mentor was in for a huge surprise when his team, defending champions, Mumbai Indians wilted under pressure and failed to chase  a  mere 119-run target against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL match at Wankhede Stadium here on Tuesday.

On a day of dramatic upheavals, both teams were bowled out. Batting first the visitors were shot out for a paltry 118 with skipper Kane Williams making the top score with 29. Sadly for the sell0out crowd, MI batsmen perished against some sustained spells by Siddarth Kaul (3/23) and Rashid Khan (2/11) losing the low-scoring match by 31 runs. This also ended the two match losing streak.

Earlier, Confusions in the middle marred the tourists even as Mumbai kept their dominance throughout and did not allow the Sunrisers to bounce back at any stage of the innings. This was interestingly the lowest total in this IPL.

Brief scores: SRH: 118 (Kane Williamson 29, Yusuf Pathan 29, Mayank Markande 2/15, Hardik Pandya 2/20) bt MI: 87 (S Yadav 34, Krunal Pandya 24, Siddarth Kaul 3/23, Rashid Khan 2/11).
