NCC hoopsters win a thriller

Hyderabad: In what was the closest match of the first day, NCC defeated SCF 19-18 in the Under-16 boys category to give a fabulous start to the ninth Barack Obama Jr Basketball Free Entry Tourney-2018, being organized by Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF) in their Masab Tank complex. 

Around 36 teams, including girls, are vying for honours in the tournament that is being held for Under-12, 14 and 16 years age-group categories.
 
Meanwhile, the young hopefuls underwent practical classes with regard to the nuances of the game during a clinic that was conducted by proven coaches Shamshuddin, Prithviraj and Damodhar, Later, founder-Secretary of the Foundation, K Sai Baba distributed booklets about the basics of basketball. 

Results: Under-14 Girls: SCF bt Red Cross School, Masab Tank 18-8, Aparna Sarovar Club bt VPG 15-5; Under-16 Girls: St Ann’s VN Colony bt VPG 18-11; SCF bt All Saint’s 8-7; Under-16 Boys: NCC bt SCF 19-18, Sky Walkers bt Oasis School 13-8, All Saints bt VPG 18-15; Under-14  Boys: SCF bt VPG 17-9, Oasis School bt St Ann’s VN Colony 10-4, CCOB bt Oasis School 21-10; Under-12 Boys: VPG bt St Ann’s VN Colony 6-5.
