Telangana Cricket Association ready to conduct matches in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) on Wednesday complimented the Committee of Administrators (Co) for their reassurance that elections would be held for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) within the next three months.

They contended that this would go a long way in cleansing the rot that has set in.

In a release here, TCA Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy pointed out that they had sent a letter to the Committee with a plea to allow them (TCA) an opportunity to step in and bring solace to cricketers from Hyderabad, who were caught at the career crossroads because of the uncertainty that looms owing to the power struggle within Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

He stated that TCA has been doing their job of providing opportunities to players from all districts in the State, barring Hyderabad, and for obvious reasons, with uninterrupted regularity since coming into existence four years back.

their commitment to follow the BCCI and ICC Rule Book in letter and spirit, Guruva Reddy stated that they had brought in a professionalism that neither had bias nor favouritism towards any individual or team.

He said that given their experience in conducting TCA league, they were adept at continuing in the same vein in Hyderabad so that players there would not lose hope.

He said although they were not empowered to conduct HCA matches per se, they could be asked to conduct tournaments for the benefit of players who were unsure of which league they had to prefer given the showdown between the Secretary and ‘President’ who were fielding separate ‘State’ teams.

The Bangalore faux pas exposed the dubious situation, he said. The TCA Secretary said that there were precedents of alternate arrangements as the purpose was to ensure that athletes would not be left in the lurch.

Several States had pitched in when host State was not prepared to conduct National Games. Even in cricket eleventh hour arrangements were made so that the show would go on.

Guruva Reddy explained that they were in good books of sponsors, who would be willing to come on board if they get the privilege to organise matches exclusively for players from Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, he exhorted the CoA to think of bringing in changes in Hyderabad by way of elections once the BCCI house is set in order.
