South Africa crush Australia by 6 wkts
Perth: Australia’s top order has again misfired in an ugly start to the international summer as South Africa dominated on lively Perth pitch to draw first blood in the best-of-three series.
South Africa sealed the six wicket win with 124 balls remaining, having dominated from the opening overs - and outclassing Australia in all parts of the game.
Man of the match Dale Steyn set things in motion by snaring the scalps of Travis Head and D'Arcy Short - paving the way for his fellow fast bowlers to unleash on the hapless Australian batting.
Lungi Ngidi was also exceptional, finishing with 2-26 while Andile Phehlukwayo ripped the Australian middle order to pieces to finish with 3-33.
Australia's total of 152 was never going to be enough and despite a three-wicket effort from Marcus Stoinis, Australia were well and truly outplayed.
Quinton de Kock top-scored in South Africa's runchase, hitting 47 from 40, while Hendricks played a patient knock – scoring 44 from 74.
Aidan Markram also looked impressive adding 36 from 32.
