New Delhi: There's no stopping for Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, quite literally. Kohli on Wednesday added another feather to his illustrious cap as he overtook West Indies’ batting legend and former captain Brian Lara on the tally of most one-day international (ODI) runs. The 30-year-old overtook Lara during the first ODI of the five-match series against New Zealand at McLean Park in Napier.

Kohli became the first Indian captain to lead a team to a Test series win on the land of Australia, needed 21 runs to set back Lara on the most ODI runs' chart before this match.

As India kicked off their New Zealand tour on a victorious note Kohli scored 45 off 59 balls, beating the Kane Williamson-led side by 8 wickets (DLS).

With this achievement, Kohli has also entered into the top 10 of the elite ODI highest run-scorers' list. Currently, he has a score of 10,430 runs in 212 innings under his belt.

Meanwhile, Lara played 289 ODI innings, scoring 10,405 runs at an average of 40.48, including 19 centuries and 63 fifties.

With 18,426 runs to his credit, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is on top of the list. The batting legend played 452 ODI innings in his career and scored 49 centuries and 96 fifties.
