History-maker Nikhat given warm reception
Hyderabad: Pugilist Nikhat Zareen was accorder a hero’s welcome on her arrival at the Rajeev Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad on Monday evening after her gold-winning performance at Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria on February 19.The former junior world champion Nikhat Zareen from Hyderabad created history by winning the first ever gold medal for India by defeating Filipino Irish Magno 5-0.
Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy along with the officials from SATS, Olympic Association of Telangana, Boxing Association of Telangana and various other 500 sportsmen offered Nikhat Zareen a warm welcome at the airport.Sports enthusiasts also thronged the airport to take a glimpse of their gold medallist and be part of the jubilation.
Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy felicitated Nikhat and later she along with her family members met TRS Working President KTR at Telangana Bhavan.TRS Working President KTR said: “Nikhat Zareen had brought laurels to Telangana by winning gold at Strandja Cup 2019 and assured her and SATS Chairman that he will soon arrange a meeting with Chief Minister K. Chandra Shekar Rao.
