Although big designers like Victoria Beckham and Alexander Wang were missing from the scene, Rodarte and Proenza Schouler returned to the fashion week. Ralph Lauren marked his 50th anniversary with an extravagant show and party while Wes Gordon debuted on the runway as creative director for Carolina Herrera.

Fashion Weeks are where all the major latest trends come into the limelight and make it irresistible for us to update our wardrobe, but only a handful of moments can be picked out. Here, we break down the top runway trends from New York Fashion Week.

YELLOW
Yellow is the colour of this spring-summer 2019 season. The predominant bold and cheery, almost marigold shade was identified as Aspen Gold by Pantone, which it describes as: "Brightening our day, it stimulates feelings of joy and good cheer." There was lemon, corn, canary and daffodil, but more than any other shade there was mustard. Plan accordingly - bring out of the yellows into your wardrobe.

TIE-DYE
Tie-dye is nothing new for us in India, and we all have at least one piece of it in our wardrobe. NYFW designers presented the arty pattern in more refined context, in more sophisticated silhouettes. Recycle your mum’s old tie and dye sarees with a defined twist - a flowy top with neutral jeans or a long dress with a jacket.

CROCHET
This summer of 2019 feels and experience crochet like never before. It was showcased in all forms from tops to rompers to frilly dresses. Go as strong as you want on this trend, whether that's adding a single blouse to your wardrobe or decking yourself out head to toe. Order up from Narsapur crocheter, order it now as they will get busier soon.

TWO-PIECE SUITS
Suit it up this Summer, in camel and houndstooth, graphic stripes and gingham. Pair with a holster-esque harness à la Sies Marjan or with casual flip-flops, as seen at Tibi.

COLOUR BLOCKING
Neon or electric yellows with bold pinks, oranges, and greens soared up high on the runway. Designers are gravitating towards high-voltage pairings. Try to get these from sustainable fashion designers or ones who make it from recycled yarns.

HATS
All the hat lovers, you are in for a treat, embrace it, flaunt it with some attitude. Bucket hats are chic now. Pair it up with a floral dress and flip-flops.

FAIRYTALE ROMANCE
Rodarte and other designers such as Marc Jacobs, Brandon Maxwell and Oscar de la Renta brought an abundance of princess ruffles, sequins and mischievous silhouettes. So now you know what to swear by in the romantic month or in your date nights.
