Grammy singer Chaitra performs in Hyderabad
A Hindustani Classical Concert by vocalist, playback singer, Grammy Singer, Chaitra HG of Bangalore and group was recently hosted by the University of Hyderabad at the Savitribai Phule DST Auditorium.
Chaitra mesmerised the audience comprising of students, faculty, staff and outsiders with her soulful renditions. Chaitra was ably supported by Gopinath HG on the tabla and Umakanth Puranik on the harmonium. The audience applauded their 90-minute performance with thunderous applause.
Chaitra is the daughter of well-known tabla artist Gopinath HS. She is a Hindustani vocalist, playback singer of Kannada film industry and also an acclaimed music composer. She has performed for various organisations in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, etc. She is also known for her devotional music concerts.
Chaitra is a playback singer with around 3500 songs to her credit in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies as well as various commercial ads. She received the best playback singer award from Govt of Karnataka in 2005. She became a Grammy singer in 2015 when her new age album ‘Winds of Samsara’ won Grammy Award.
