Happiness from decoration!

Bells clinging to the winter winds and the carolers singing the perfect songs while decorating their Christmas trees; every house during the season of joy and happiness is decked up with beautiful decorations that bring cheer to every individual involved in the celebrations.

While the Christmas is round the corner, we have a few people and churches who celebrate the joy and birth of Christ by decorating their houses and church. John Ramesh, who is a choreographer by profession said, “The traditional colours of Christmas are green and red. Many of us place a star which was a navigator for the wise men who reached Bethlehem where Jesus was born. It is placed on top of the Christmas tree, symbolising the same I follow the same pattern while decorating my house.”

Churches during Christmas are something that are worth to watch and so when we look at the churches in Hyderabad New Life Assembly of God (NLAG) at Kompally decked their church in a Westernised pattern. Sharing about the decorations at church the officials of the church said, “We plan things ahead of Christmas, like what sort of decorations should be done and what theme should be followed. We put up different kind of stars, lights and make the church look colourful and beautiful. It is not just the Christmas tree that is highlighted this year, but also the church decorations that is decked with lights and other elements of the décor.”

The nativity scene is usually played as a drama or showcased in a crib. The best place where you can find the crib where it explains the birth of Christ is at Wesley Church, Secunderabad. Every year this church showcases the crib at the start of the Christmas month. The nativity scene is explained in it with characters who were involved during the birth of Jesus. Schools surrounding this church take their children to explain the birth of Christ in the crib.

While many of us hear about the Christmas tree as a traditional decoration piece for Christmas here’s a little what you have to know about them:

Long before the advent of Christianity, plants and trees that remained green all year had a special meaning for people in the winter. Just as people today decorate their homes during the festive season with pine, spruce, and fir trees, ancient peoples hung evergreen boughs over their doors and windows. In many countries, it was believed that evergreens would keep away witches, ghosts, evil spirits, and illness.

Christmas tree which is the first thing that comes in mind while decorating has a special kind of attraction when it is decorated. Sheba D, a student who celebrates Christmas by spending more than half of her time decorating her house, says, “When I decorate the first decoration piece, I place in my house is the Christmas tree. It brings me great joy when it is all decorated and decked up with bells, lights, stars, gifts, etc. And whenever I decorate the tree, I listen to the old Christmas classics. That is what my traditional Christmas is.”
