The novel is easily one of the most interesting reads that one can come across, though you may have watched the movie or read it in history books or heard stories about the brave queen the visualisation which helps to give wings to the imagination is the key USP of this Graphic novel. Just a 112-page read which can be finished in less than two hours. The graphic novel leaves no twist and turns unnoticed by the reader and weaves an interconnected story pattern, taking the reader to the life journey of the warrior queen. The content is so well researched that it covers the whole plot to meticulously that every character comes to life no matter how big or the small role it has played in the battle for Jhansi.

At a time when the story of Rani Lakshmibai, the queen of Jhansi and a symbol of courage and resistance, is being revived in popular media, this is a graphic biography that presents the legendary warrior’s remarkable feats ‘without resorting to mythical exaggeration’. Lakshmibai’s leadership and bravery have inspired generations of Indians ever since she led her troops against the British forces during the 1857 Uprising, which is described by many as the First War of Independence

Unjustly deprived of her kingdom by the British, Lakshmibai, ruler of the princely state of Jhansi, mounted a brave resistance against the British while being unwillingly drawn into the sepoy uprising of 1857. Her leadership and bravery captured the hearts of many, friend and foe alike, and till this day, she lives on as a symbol of hope against tyranny in the hearts of countless Indians.

The book also gives the glimpse of Queen’s wisdom where she wanted to avoid war at any cost as wars bring nothing good but death and misery. Her efforts for peace for her people can be witnessed by the fact that the queen agreed to stay on a pension.

The most interesting aspect that the book was able to depict was the resolve of the queen to not give Jhansi to anyone else at any cost.
