At the Unpacked event hosted by Samsung at San Francisco, it launched its Galaxy S10 range of smartphones and also a bunch of new accessories. The firm announced new Galaxy Buds true wireless earbuds and two new fitness wearables.
Galaxy Buds Earphones
Samsung’s latest wireless earbuds are the Galaxy Buds with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The earbuds audio has been tuned for Sound by AKG and for reducing background noise it has adaptive dual microphones, enhanced ambient sound support and integration with Bixby. Each earbud just weighs around 49 grams. Samsung claims on a single charge the earbuds can deliver up to 6 hours of music playback and 5 hours of calls. If used in the charging case, the earbuds can offer a total of 13 hours of music playback and 11 hours of talk time that is considered to be the best amongst the available on true wireless earbuds.
Other specifications and Price
Supporting wireless charging is the best feature of the Galaxy buds. This means using the Wireless Power Share feature on the Galaxy S10 devices, you can charge the Galaxy buds by just placing them on the back of the S10 smartphone. This will be priced at US$ 129.99, the Earbuds will be available on sale from 8th March 2019 and supposed to be launched in India along with the S10 range next month.
Galaxy Active Smartwatch
Samsung also announced Galaxy Active smartwatch at the event. The Galaxy Watch Active has a 1.1 full-colour circular display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels and it is safeguarded by Gorilla Glass 3. It weighs around 25 grams; it is also water resistant and supports wireless charging using the S10 range of smartphones.
Hardware Specifications and Price
It is supported by Exynos 9110 Dual-core 1.15 GHz, 768MB RAM, 4GB storage and 230mAh battery. The watch runs Tizen based Wearable OS 4.0 and comes with many features including heart rate monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, automatic and manual exercise tracking, and real-time coaching. The watch is priced at US$ 199 and will go on sale from 8th March 2019.
Galaxy Fit Fitness Tracker
Samsung also launched a new Galaxy Fit fitness tracker priced at US$ 99.99. It has a 0.95-inch colour AMOLED display with a 120 x 120-pixel resolution. The fit runs Realtime OS and has Bluetooth connectivity. The tracker is water resistant, has a heart rate tracker, sleep tracking with analysis and supports automatic and can also track manual exercise. The band can also show notification from a connected smartphone. A cheaper variant called the Galaxy Fit e was also displayed that has a smaller 0.76-inch PMOLED display and 70mAh battery. Like the Galaxy Fit this one can also track your fitness, heart rate, sleep and is water resistant. No details were disclosed about its price and availability.
Internationally the Galaxy Fit will be available for sale from 31st May 2019 but not sure if it would be launched in India.
