Hyderabad to host BioAsia from February 25 to 27

Hyderabad: The government of Telangana is hosting BioAsia the annual global life sciences summit, Hyderabad is all set to host the 16th edition from February 25 to 27, 2019. Mainly focused on sectors like biotechnology industry, healthcare, life sciences and pharma, the edition will be inaugurated by Shri E S L Narasimhan, Governor of Telangana.

In the last 15 editions of BioAsia, representatives from 95 countries have participated in the event and this year the event is expecting 1,500 delegates from 50 countries which also includes India. Previously about Rs 15,000 crore-worth investment has come to Hyderabad and over 16,000 business partnerships with 250 MOUs and/or letters of intents have been signed at the forum. The 16th edition will have South Korea as its partner country along with South Africa and Spain. In addition to the State of Telangana; Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka and Odisha also have come together to make the event successful.

Telangana Industries principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan, while addressing the reporters at the curtain raiser event told, “This year we will be having three new things to be offered at the event – first is the startups stage wherein 75 startups will be showcasing their innovations and these are startups not only from India but from countries like the US, Canada, Estonia and others; second is the separate platform being set up for the MSME called the MSME pavilion wherein we are expecting 200 participants and thirdly we will be having a scientific enabler pavilion wherein institutions like IICT, CCMB and DRL Institute of Life Sciences will be showcasing their innovation.”

There will be 100 eminent speakers present in the event from around the world, including Prof. Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, chief economic advisor to government of India, Dr. Don Cleveland, Ludwig Cancer Research, University of California, San Diego (Breakthrough Prize for Life Sciences 2018), Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Dr. S Eswara Reddy, DCGI, CDSCO and KT Rama Rao, Working President, TRS.
