The Apple Watch Series has been launched in India. As usual, Apple devices costlier India when compared to other parts of the world because of the taxes. The Watch Series 4 comes in two models - GPS model and GPS + Cellular model.  It is available in two sizes- 40mm and 44mm. For a surprise, If the Apple Watch 4 Cellular is bought from the US, it will not function in India.

The Apple Watch Series 4 GPS + Cellular (40-mm) prices begin at Rs 49,900 and go up till Rs 76,900. Whereas the 44-mm case size begins at Rs 52,900 and goes up till Rs 80,900. The Apple Watch Series 4 GPS only version starts at Rs 40,900 and it is supported globally. But the problem is with the GPS+ Cellular edition of Watch Series 4.

Apple Watch 4 Cellular comes in two models to cater to different LTE and UMTS bands that are available worldwide. The Watch 4 Cellular Model A1975 (40-mm size) and A1976 (44-mm size) will be supported by telecom operators in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico but not by Indian telecom operators.  You can use it with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but mobile data will not work on it. And it does not make sense to buy the Cellular version without mobile data support; instead of this buying the cheaper Watch 4 GPS makes more sense.

In India the Apple Watch 4 Cellular Model A2007 (for 40-mm sizes) and Model A2008 (for 44-mm size) support telecom bands in 16 countries where they are available for a cheaper price and support telecom operators like Reliance Jio and Airtel Postpaid. Prices are as per official Apple store website.
