Foldable phones to have special Android Q feature
Google is known for its continuous research on new features, now it is working on a new multi-window feature for the next Android operating version -- Android Q -- which will enable users to run multiple apps at the same time. This means, in foldable phones, users can literally fold their device into two screens and run two different applications simultaneously.
In Android multi-windows support has been there for a long time, now in Android Q users can use both apps together. At present, if the split screen mode is activated, the user can only choose to use one app while the other one automatically gets paused. In Android, by default, there is no provision to play multiple apps simultaneously. With the next Android Q Google is going to allow users to play games and watch YouTube videos or more at the same time without the need to pause another.
This may also come handy for non-foldable phones. Like the split screen mode in its present form doesn’t really help in real-time multi-tasking. For example, if you are playing a game on one screen and using WhatsApp on the other, the Android system will pause WhatsApp while you play your game, this result in delayed chats and the experience is same while receiving a new chat when WhatsApp is closed on the device.
Reportedly Google will now allow all Android OEMs to include the new multi-windows feature in its next Android version. So, this feature will not be exclusive to just Pixel phones.
When it comes to foldable phones, Samsung recently showcased its upcoming Galaxy X foldable phone at the Samsung Developer conference. Samsung has confirmed that the foldable Galaxy X will indeed offer the largest screen-to-body ratio in the market.
This actually means that users can simply expect to carry a foldable glass screen in their pockets with barely any bezels that make it look like a traditional phone.
