Next Apple iPhone may possess a hole-in-display
With the launch of iPhone X Apple brought the ‘notch’ trend in smartphones last year. Over the year this was adopted by several Android OEMs and many made it better and smaller as well. Brands like Vivo and Oppo brought the ‘waterdrop’ notch on board.
But it looks like Apple is now taking it a step further by working on a different notch altogether. The Cupertino-based company has patented hole-in-display solution, something you may witness in your next iPhone.
Evidently, drilling hole in the display is to minimize the bezels while retaining the FaceID and other functions. Although it has not been explained as to how Apple will implement the tech, an image showcasing the ‘hole’ is spotted in the patent, which was originated by LetsGoDigital.
Interestingly, while many appreciate Apple iPhone’s design for the symmetry and balanced look, the hole in the display is not seen at the top-centre but on the top-right corner.
This is similar to what Samsung displayed at last week’s developer conference. The South Korean tech firm showed its ‘Infinity-O’ display that has a similar hole-in-display solution at one corner of the screen.
Though, this is just one of the concepts Apple is working on. Last month the iPhone manufacturer got its second patent for a foldable smartphone. The second patent concentrates on the hinge that will be comprised in the foldable smartphone.
