According to Ericsson Research and Development head, Sanjeev Tyagi, the company has plans to hire 300 people globally for roles in emerging technologies. Apart from India, the company has setup its GAIA facility in the US and Sweden. The newly launched facility will accelerate the development of AI and automation solutions.

Tyagi further added that, Ericsson is committed to bring AI and automation capabilities across several of its business areas. The company is already involved in projects that can create vibrant talent ecosystem in India. The promising, game changing results that they have achieved demonstrates the potential that intelligent data analytics can bring to domains like telecom.

The advent of 5G and IoT has also benefited in a number of ways. These data-centric technologies will create many jobs in emerging technologies.

5G technology will reach 40% of the global population by 2024. Tyagi said, “5G will enable massive machine type communication and whole new use cases will be possible by this technology. For instance, massive deployment of sensors across a huge field and ultra low latency is possible with 5G technology. As a result, extremely sensitive and critical applications will have very low latency.”

To expand its reach in India, the company plans to partner with other telecom service providers, industry stakeholders, and startup academia. The innovations from GAIA will help in making innovations easy to use, adapt, and scale.
