24-hour power supply will hurt farmers: Komatireddy

Hyderabad : Congress senior leader and Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday said that 24-hour power supply to agriculture sector would cause more harm than good to farmers.

Speaking to media persons after cutting New Year cake with Congress workers in Nalgonda, Komatireddy said that 10-hour power supply would be more than sufficient for farmers. Else, he said that the farmers would lose ground water. He said that the 24-hour power supply would only benefit 'zamindars' and small and marginal farmers would not gain anything out of it. He said that the move might cause several problems for farmers in future. 

Komatireddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was pushing the agricultural sector into a new crisis as New Year's gift.
