B.Tech student found dead, Blue Whale game suspected

A 19-year-old B.Tech student was found dead at his residence in Gandipet on Saturday morning.

The student, T Varun from BITS Pilani was pursuing his second year and was home on vacation. He was found dead with a plastic bag tied around his face. 

He is suspected to be the victim of the internet game Blue Whale where participants are told to do a series of anti-social acts that culminate in suicide.

According to the police, Varun was addicted to the internet and used to frequently browse video games.

The police registered a case under section 174 (suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code and further investigation is on.
