Telangana farmers to get uninterrupted power supply from today

Telangana government will be providing free power supply on 24x7 basis o the agricultural sector from today.

It is now the only state in the country to provide uninterrupted free power supply round the clock to all categories of consumers.  

When Telangana was formed, the install capacity was 6,574 MW and power cuts were a common aspect of the state. Now, it has substantially increased to 8,271 MW.

Transco is expecting the demand to touch 11,000 MW in March and the officials claim the state is creating history by providing uninterrupted power supply to farmers for free. 

With the government likely to operationalize several lift irrigation schemes including Kaleshwaram, the consumption is expected to increase further from June.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has reiterated on several occasions that the TRS government won’t hesitate to purchase power from neighboring states to fulfill the promise made to farmers.
