Left party leaders seek judicial probe into encounter, submit memorandum to Governor

Left party leaders have sought a judicial enquiry into the encounter at Tekulapalli Mandal that took place on Dec 14, 2017 where nine persons were killed.

They have submitted a memorandum to Governor ESL Narasimhan in this regard and requested him to order a judicial enquiry by a sitting judge of high court into the facts of ‘encounter’.

The leaders informed that the police had declared nine members working in the name of Chandra Pulla Reddy Bata dead in an encounter during early hours of December 14 but citing media reports, they said the nine people were tortured and shot dead by the police.

On January 6, Left parties and civil society organisation members will hold ‘Chalo Nerella’ Padayatra from Siddipet to Nerella in Rajanna-Sircilla demanding cases be booked against people involved in July 2017 incident where six Dalits and others from Backward Castes, were tortured by police in Nerella.
