‘No bag day’ for schools in Telangana
Update: 2018-01-06 19:31 IST
The Telangana government is all set to introduce ‘no bag day’ in all schools.
A proposal in this regard is being prepared by the Directorate of School Education.
Karnataka already implements ‘no bag day’ once a month.
To be observed once a week or month, students will have fewer classes and more extra-curricular activities on this day, most likely to be a Saturday.
Earlier, the government had directed the schools to not let the bag weight for students of Classes I and II exceed 1.5 kg, and for Classes III to V - 3 kg.
For the Classes VI and VII, the weight was limited to 4 kg, for Classes VIII and IX, not more than 4.5 kg and Class X students should not carry the bag weight exceeding 5 kg.
