Govt backing sand mafia: JAC chief

Hyderabad: Launching a padayatra from Siddipet to Nerella along with Left parties and peoples’ organications on Sunday, Telangana JAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram accused the State government of extending support to the sand mafia in the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Kodandaram demanded that the State government punish the culprits of Nerella incident. He alleged that only Ministers and Chief Minister’s close relatives and aides were getting sand contracts. He also alleged that the sand contractors were running countless number of lorries in utter violation of rules and regulations and over speeding. 

Due to high speed, people were facing a lot of troubles and the government was not bothered about it. He said they would continue the movement till Nerella victims got justice. Left parties’ leaders Chada Venkat Reddy, Tammineni Veerabhadram and others were present.
