Vegetable prices witness a drastic drop in Hyderabad
Vegetable prices have dropped drastically in Hyderabad within a month of the prices taking an upward curve.
Prices of the vegetables even decreased by more than half with tomato prices coming down to around Rs 5 per kg in Rythu Bazars whereas they are being sold at around Rs 10 per kg in retail markets.
The tomato prices have slashed within two weeks due to the arrival of large stocks from adjoining districts.
Vegetables such as lady’s finger, brinjal, chili, french beans, carrot, field beans, and others too have witnessed a decline in prices.
The vegetable sellers are stating that the drop in prices is only due to the excessive production and pushing more quantities into city markets.
While the homemakers are surely rejoicing the dropped prices as they are purchasing the vegetables in bulk, the farmers are left in the lurch as they have to sell their produce at low prices.
In the recent week, various Rythu Bazars in the city fixed price for one kg of tomato at Rs 11 but farmers were seen offering them for Rs 5.
