Tap social media to promote govt schemes, officials told

Hyderabad: Information and Public Relations Commissioner Arvind Kumar on Tuesday instructed department officials to utilise social media extensively for the propagation of welfare and development programmes launched by the State government.

Soon after taking charge in his chambers at the Secretariat, the senior IAS official asked the officials to open I and PR accounts on social media particularly Facebook and Twitter and initiate steps to campaign the government sponsored programmes.

He wanted the officials to update the government information on the official I and PR website. Arvind reviewed the performance of the department and the use of online facility in its functioning.
