Telangana seeks central assistance for construction of hospital in all new districts

Telangana Health Minister C Laxma Reddy on Tuesday met Union health minister JP Nadda in New Delhi where he addressed the issue of funds to be released to upgrade Bibinagar Hospital into an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Seeking central assistance for construction of a hospital in all new districts and special aid, the Minister mentioned that Telangana is implementing the KCR kits program to improve infant and maternal mortality rates.

Laxma Reddy also participated in the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) meeting and provided suggestions to improve food safety.

While he mentioned Telangana government passing an act to criminalize those involved in food adulteration and offenders being booked under the Preventive Detention Act, the FSSAI appreciated the state for taking stern measures to maintain food safety.

The Minister further sought funds to construct new medical colleges at Siddipet, Mahbubnagar, Suryapet, and Nalgonda.
