Workshop on Farmers Income on Jan 17

Hyderabad: To realise the objective of Prime Minister’s call to double the farmers’ income by 2022, the Centre for Good Governance (CGG), in association with NABARD, is organising a national workshop on ‘Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022’ on January 17 at Tungabhadra Hall, Dr MCRHRDI campus, Jubilee Hills, here.

The workshop is aimed at bringing scientists, intellectuals and policy-makers to exchange their knowledge and ideas on the theme with the objectives to deliberate on the relationship between agricultural growth and agricultural profitability; to deliberate on key policy measures in the context of increasing incomes by improving productivity; discuss the role of emerging technologies in cost reduction in crop husbandry; discuss on industry participation for increased farm incomes such as contract farming, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and so on; role of diversification of farm enterprises in augmenting farmers’ income in a sustainable manner and to discuss and suggest solutions that can enable doubling of farmers’ income by 2022, according to an official release issued here on Tuesday.

The deliberations and outcome of the workshop would be a step forward towards setting the agenda and accelerating initiatives already undertaken by the Telangana government for increasing the farmers’ income, it said.

Dr Ashok Dalwai, Chairman, PM’s Committee on Doubling of Farmers' Income, Dr Ramesh Chand, Member (Agriculture), NITI Aayog, Dr Mohan Kanda, former Secretary, Agriculture and Dr V Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU are some of the eminent experts who have confirmed to participate in the event, according to the release.
