TRS retains 44-Division in GWMC by-elections

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has retained the 44-Division of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation in the by-elections whose results were declared today. 

TRS candidate Anisetti Saritha has defeated her nearest rival K. Santosh Reddy of BJP by 835 votes. By-elections for 44-Division got necessitated due to the death of sitting corporator Anisetty Murali, who was hacked to death in July last year. While other parties did not contest the election, BJP and three independent candidates contested the by-polls held on January 9. 

Speaking to media persons after the declaration of results, GWMC Mayor N. Narender and MLA Vinay Bhaskar said that the TRS was able to retain the seat due to the development works being executed by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao.
