Telangana CS reviews arrangements for Sammakka Sarakka Jatra
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh has directed the officials to make elaborate arrangements for Sammakka Sarakka Jatra, beginning from January 31, on par with Khumbh Mela.
Addressing a reivew with senior officials of various departments at the State Secretariat on Thursday, Singh said the Jatra, to be held in Medaram village near Warangal was the largest congregation of Tribals.
He said that the Jatra attracts visitors not only from various parts of India, but also from foreign countries. He said nearly one crore people are expected to participate in the Jatra this year. Therefore, he said arrangements should be made keeping in view the huge number of visitors who will participate in the event from 31st January to 3rd February.
The Chief Secretary said the Sammakka Sarakka Jatra should be given wide publicity on national channels, blogs and social media. He said cultural programmes would be organised during the Jatra.
