90 per cent of Mission Bhagiratha works completed: CS

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary S.P. Singh on Saturday said that nearly 90% of works of Mission Bhagiratha have been completed and remaining 10% works would be completed by March 15. 

Addressing a review meeting at the State Secretariat, the Chief Secretary said that the execution of Mission Bhagiratha works was done as per expectations. He interacted with the officials of Suryapet and Adilabad districts over delay in completion of works. RWS Engineer-in-Chief Surender Reddy, Chief Engineers Vijay Prakash and Jagan Mohan Reddy and officials of Mission Bhagiratha implementation agency were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Secretary informed that water is being supplied to 4,744 habitations under Mission Bhagiratha programme. He said that the process of giving tap connections to 2,593 habitations has been completed and water supply has been started in 2,251 habitations. 

Meanwhile, the RWS Engineer-in-Chief told the Chief Secretary that the construction of 19 intake wells has been completed and the process of fixing motor and pumps was on. Of 50, the construction of 27 water treatments has been completed while 403 out of 425 water sumps are ready. Of 49,184 km long pipeline, the laying of 44,323 km is already over. 

The Chief Secretary has directed the officials to hire additional staff, if required, to complete all the works before March 15.
