CBED chief lays foundation stone for NACIN institute
Hyderabad: Central Board Of Excise and Customs (CBEC) Chairman Vanaja N. Sarna laid the foundation stone for the National Academy Of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Zonal Training Institute (ZTI) at Attapur, Hyderabad in presence of S. Ramesh Member(Admin), CBEC, New Delhi and Archana P. Tiwari, Director General, NACIN, New Delhi.
NACIN is the apex institute of Government of India for capacity building of Civil Servants in the field of Indirect Taxation, particularly in the areas of GST, Customs and Narcotics. NACIN is the nodal agency for training of the GST stakeholders and has been playing a crucial role in training of GST officers of the Center and the States.
The new project for construction of the state of art training facility at Attapur is expected to cost around Rs. 47 Cr and is scheduled to complete within 2 years. The institute will augment the much-needed training infrastructure in the area of GST and taxpayer services. The proposed campus will consist of separate blocks for Training, Administration and Hostel, besides sports and recreational facilities.
The whole Institute is planned to be energy efficient, environmentally responsible and differently abled friendly. It is expected to cater to the training of about 10,000 officers of both Center & State of Telangana and would also organize selected National and International seminars/workshops.
B.B. Agrawal, Chief Commissioner (Central GST), Hyderabad Zone , Y. Shahrawat, Chief Commissioner (Central GST), Vizag Zone, J.S. Chandrashekar, Addl. Director General, NACIN, ZTI, Hyderabad and other senior officers of GST (Central Tax) also graced the ceremony.
The Chairman CBEC later reviewed the performance of the Hyderabad and Vizag Zones, particularly with regard to GST implementation. The Chairman appreciated the commendable job of officers of Hyderabad Central GST Zone for their outstanding performance in TRAN-I Credit verification, rated as the best in the country. The Chairman also acknowledged the excellent efforts of the Hyderabad and Vizag Zones for conducting the highest number of GST outreach programs.
Sarna noted that coordinated efforts of both Centre and State GST officers in every state would immensely help the taxpayers as well as the Government in effective implementation of GST, with least litigation.
