Adivasis advised to focus on resolution of issues
Hyderabad: Scheduled Tribes Commission chairman Nanda Kumar Sai on Sunday advised Adivasis to focus on resolution of their issues without any differences or clashes with other communities.
Addressing a press conference here, Nanda Kumar said that Adivasis had fewer opportunities in jobs and education in the past. However, the present government is making efforts for the growth of all Adivasis. Therefore, he said instead of having confrontation with others, the community could resolve its problems by making effective representations with the government.
Commenting on demands for scrapping of reservation in jobs and education for STs and other communities, Nanda Kumar said no one could stop reservation which has been provided by the Constitution of India. He said it was not an easy task to add or remove a community from the reservation list. He said any such move would need legislation.
Meanwhile, Thudum Debba state president Soyam Bapurao alleged that some migrant groups were enjoying the benefits meant for Adivasis. He asked the government to review the situation and take necessary steps to undo the injustice.
