Farmer consumes insecticide at Collector’s office

A farmer committed suicide by drinking insecticide at the Collector’s office at Jagtial town on Tuesday. 

The deceased, identified as Ch Gangaiah, was a resident of Rechapalli in Sarangapur Mandal.

The farmer who had bought 1.2 acres of land through a simple sale deed about 15 years ago and was cultivating it since then, tried to regularise his title.

However, he faced opposition from the seller of the land.

Upset over the issue, Gangaiah came to the Collector’s office but without addressing the issue with any official, he consumed insecticide.

District Collector Dr A Sharath alerted the staff who rushed him to the hospital. Gangaiah who was shifted to the Government Hospital at Karimnagar succumbed to death during the treatment. 

An inquiry is being conducted into the matter.
