Harish launches Gouravelli works

Husnabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao participated in the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Gouravelli reservoir that comes under the purview of Husnabad RDO in Siddipet district on Monday. MP Vinod, District Collector P Venkatram Reddy, Husnabad MLA Voditela Sathish Kumar, Irrigation Department officials and other public representatives participated in the programme. 

Speaking to reporters, the Irrigation Minister said the Gouravelli project would be a boon for drought-hit areas in the region. The reservoir was redesigned by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao by increasing its capacity to 9 tmc ft of water for drinking and to irrigate 1.6 lakh acres for two crops which was previously intended for 1.2 lakh acres in the constituencies of Karimnagar, Warangal and Janagaon districts. Mid Manair was not a flood canal, it was a live canal, noted the Minister, on the occasion.
