Vempati Ravisankar passes away

Manikonda: Renowned dancer and Kalaratna Vempati Ravisankar breathed his last here on Tuesday. He was second son of legendary Kuchipudi guru Vempati China Satyam. He learnt Kuchipudi from his father and later blended the style of his uncle Vemapati Pedda Satyam thus created a new trend in the dance form.

He choreographed 80 different dance shows and exhibited all over the world. He tuned as many as 200 songs written by him. He learnt music from Padmabhushan Balamuralikrishna. Kerala government bestowed him with 'Siddendra Narthan' award and Government of Andhra Pradesh felicitated him with 'Kala Ratna' award. His final rites will be held at Manikonda burial ground on Wednesday.
