GHMC Rs 5 meals now in Sec’bad Cantt

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Rs 5 meal scheme for the poor that started in GHMC jurisdiction in 2014, now enters Secunderabad Cantonment area.

The Rs 5 meal scheme was inaugurated at Kharkhana and Bolarum here on Thursday. Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy said there are a lot of daily wage labourers in need of a hot meal and Rs 5 meal would be a boon to them as well as others. 

MLA Sayanna, said, “After a number of representations to the government, at last the cantonment had got the scheme.  Thanks to the Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao that the Rs 5 meal scheme got a sanction in the cantonment. It is a good beginning.”

The GHMC sanctioned five centres for Secunderabad Cantonment out of which two started on Thursday.  The remaining three would come up at Lal Bazaar, Bowenpally bus stop and Anna Nagar X Roads. 

Later, Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy, MLA Sayanna, Secunderabad Cantonment Board vice president Ramakrishna had meals along with others.
