Nalgonda Congress leader brutally murdered
Nalgonda: In a blood-curdling incident, Nalgonda Municipal Chairperson Boddupally Laxmi’s husband Boddupally Srinivas was brutally murdered by his close associates on Wednesday night, just few yards away from his house located at Savarkar Nagar in Nalgonda. Later, the assailants dumped his body in a sewer canal and reportedly surrendered before the police.
According to official sources, the assailants attacked Srinivas on his head with a boulder killing him instantly. The assault is said to be a fallout of an argument between the attackers and Srinivas, aide of Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. Upon receiving information, Superintendent of Police Srinivas Rao rushed to the spot and shifted the body to government hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy rushed to Nalgonda and consoled the family members of the slain leader. Condemning the murder, Komatireddy along with his brother MLC Rajagopal Reddy staged a protest at Clock Tower centre seeking probe into the whole episode and strict action against the murderers. Former Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah called upon the Congress cadre for Nalgonda town bandh on the day.
Addressing the media later, Komatireddy alleged that some members from the Nayeem gang had threatened his followers of death in the past, and he sought protection from the government in this regard. However, his pleas went in vain.
Komatireddy bothers furthers alleged role of ruling party leaders in Srinivas murder, and accused police of siding the government by protecting the culprits.
Meanwhile, Srinivas’s wife Boddupally Laxmi lodged a complaint with Nalgonda Two Town police and informed officials that her husband received a phone call on Wednesday midnight, at around 11.30, and rushed out of his house. And within few hours, she was informed of his ghastly murder.
Despite repeated pleas, her husband was not provided security by the government nor the gun licence application was approved, she wailed.In her complaint, she mentioned the names of Rambabu, Mallesh, Chakri, Durgaiah, Sharath as main accused in her husband’s murder.
SP Srinivas Rao informed that during their preliminary investigation they came to know that Srinivas was murdered by his followers and reportedly seven members took part in the assault. Four police teams were constituted to arrest the culprits, he said, and exuded confidence that all the accused would be arrested soon and would be produced before the media.
Meanwhile, on Thursday evening, the last rites of Srinivas were performed in which thousands of people participated. District police made tight security arrangements for the final procession of the slain leader.
