TRS Govt trying to intimidate critics: TJAC chief

Update: 2018-01-27 03:23 IST

Hyderabad : Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram on Friday alleged that the TRS Government was trying to suppress the voice of those who are raising public issues through social media.

Speaking after unfurling the national flag at TJAC office on the occasion of Republic Day, Kodandaram said that State Government's decision to book cases under IPC against those who criticise the government was a direct attempt to curb fundamental Freedom of Expression. He said that the TJAC would strongly oppose the move.

Kodandaram accused the TRS Government of indulging in political vendetta. He said that the arrest of MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga, TDP leader V. Pratap Reddy, OU leader A. Dayakar were examples of political revenge. He said it was highly condemnable that the permission for misuse of Sections 506 and 507 of IPC was granted on a day when India was celebrating its 69th Republic Day.

The TJAC chief said that the Constitution of India was perfect and good for everyone. However, he alleged that the ruling parties were bringing required amendments to suit their political needs. He said that the final decision on forming a political party would be taken in the month of February.
