Telangana moots 6 zones for justice to all employees
Hyderabad: Telangana state government has finalised draft Presidential order for the creation of new zones. The cabinet sub-committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari proposed creation of six zones in place of the existing two zones in the state. The new zones will be constituted based on the population.
Official sources said that two multi-zones comprising 15 districts in the first one and 16 in the second multi-zone will also be created. The government has taken up the uphill task of the creation of new zones to render justice to the employees in the newly-created 31 districts.
The government has found many disparities in providing employment as people living in most-backward districts were deprived of availing job opportunities in the existing zonal system. To set things right, the government has brought the idea of amending the 371 (D) Article which is under implementation through the Presidential order in the united Andhra Pradesh.
There were six zones in the combined AP for recruitment purpose. After the formation of Telangana, the state of Telangana has got two zones - Zone V and Zone VI. Erstwhile Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam come under Zone V and the remaining six districts – Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Medak and Nalgonda districts are covered under Zone VI.
Officials said that under the new zonal system, each zone will cover five districts. Finalisation of the district in every zone will be done by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the meeting to be held in February. Once the cabinet ratifies it, the draft seeking amendment to the presidential order will be forwarded to President Ram Nath Kovind for his assent.
Under the new system, officials said that the cabinet sub-committee proposed to reduce the state cadre posts and increase zonal posts. The increase in zonal posts will help to get more job opportunities to the locals. The district cadre posts will remain the same. Some state cadre posts will also be made as multi zonal posts.
The government wanted every appointment made by the government should be done in tune with the Presidential orders. Public sector Undertakings like Singareni, RTC, Transco and Energy departments should also come under the Presidential order purview. It should be known which post is under what cadre and also clarity on the promotions.
