Hyderabad: Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) Central Committee Member B V Raghavulu said the State government is not making serious efforts to mount pressure on the Centre to establish dry ports in the State. Addressing a joint press conference with the party State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram here on Saturday, he said, a report prepared by the Ernst and Young commissioned by the State government had identified Zaheerabad, Jadcherla and Damarcherla suitable for establishing dry ports.

Raghavulu said Governor E S L Narasimhan had been praising the State as though the Golden Telangana already arrived but, the facts speak otherwise. He asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to lead a delegation of all-parties to mount pressure on the Centre to establish dry ports in the State and give a fillip to the export potential.

He also stressed on the State government to take steps to ensure that the Centre delivers on its promises made like the second phase of MMTS, completion of the survey of four new railway lines and the like. Tammineni Veerabhadram said the State Committee meetings will be held at Nalgonda from February 4-7.

Agenda for the meeting had been discussed, which includes the political situation in the State and action plan for the next three years. The party executive had also discussed the past and current political scenario in the State and its impact on improving the living standards of the people.

It was against this backdrop that the party had decided to strengthen the recently launched Bahujana Left Front (BLF) in next three years, he said. He said that the words of the Chief Minister are not matching with his actions. Most of the times the State government is taking decisions in hast without thinking about the consequences.

Though reorganisation of districts looks fine, till date, there is no staff and offices, he said. Similarly, providing Rs 4,000 to the farmers as financial assistance would not solve the issue unless the agriculture produce is supported with Minimum Support Price (MSP) with one-and-half the times of the investment incurred by the farmers, he said.
