GHMC to penalise business for dumping garbage on roadside, public places

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy has directed Deputy Commissioners to impose fine on commercial and business establishments and push-cart vendors who dump garbage on roadside and in public places. 

Addressing Zonal and Deputy Commissioners, Medical Officers and Engineers in a preparatory meeting held here on Saturday, the Commissioner instructed the officials to supervise development works and sanitation. Garbage was being dumped on the roadside and in public places despite being warned time and again.

He asked officials to appoint women caretakers at she-toilets. Expressing dissatisfaction over the working of the outsourcing staff employed as booth-level officers to carry out the tasks of revision of voters’ list and such other programmes, he called for appointing local retired officials as the booth-level officers. He called upon the participants to sincerely strive to make the city get number one rank in the Swachh Survekshan-2018 as Hyderabad has been declared open-defaecation free city.

Referring to ‘Mana Nagaram’ conducted by Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, the GHMC Commissioner urged the officials to dispose of all representations received during the programme and submit a report to him. In case of those requiring financial allocations, he wanted the officials to prepare estimates and send them to him for approval. He directed the officials to encourager welfare associations to build rainwater harvesting structures. 

He stressed the need to take a decision on building plans within 20 days of their submission. He warned that the officials concerned would be penalised at the rate of Rs 1,000 a day for the delay in taking a decision on plans. To augment sanitation in the city, he wanted the officials to ensure that MyGHMCapp and mosquitoapp are downloaded. 

Additional commissioners Adwaita Kumar Singh, Sigda Patnaik, Ravikiran, Bhaskarachary, Manohar and zonal commissioners Harichandana, Srinivas Reddy and Sankaraiah were present.
