Telangana CS launches Pulse Polio programme

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh launched 1st Round of Pulse Polio programme by administering polio drops to children today in the premises of Basti Dhavakhana which is under construction at Prashashan Nagar in Jubilee Hills. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary said that in the first round it is aimed to cover nearly 36.56 lakhs children in the age group of 0-5 years in the entire state, of which around 3.98 lakhs will be covered in Hyderabad alone. Around 22,768 polio booths were set up to carry out this task, while 787 mobile teams are formed at 737 points to cover children those identified as high risked.

The programme will continue for two more days to cover the children those left out today. He complimented the officials of Medical and Health department for making concerted efforts to make this prog a success, besides creating massive awareness among parents. 

Principal Secretary (Medical & Health) Shanta Kumari, Family Welfare Commissioner Karuna Vakati and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
