Netherlands to help TS store seeds, food grains
Hyderabad: The Netherlands would provide technical assistance to the State in storing seed and food grains as a proposal made by a team from that country has been accepted by Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department on Sunday.
A press release issued by the Telangana Agriculture Department informed that the Netherlands would help protect the quality of seeds and to remove Afflotoxin from food grains.
As India is a tropical country, it is essential to keep the seeds and food grains in a protected environment. They would lose life due to moisture and heat if not protected. Afflotoxin contaminates maize and groundnut and leads to cancer in consumers.
Agriculture Principal Secretary C Parthasarathi said that the government had been taking steps to protect quality of seeds and food grains. A programme in this regard would be implemented in Wanaparthy. He said this would help Telangana emerge as hub of seeds. Parthasarathi informed that a conference would be held on protecting the quality of seeds and food grains.
