Providing credible news is essential: Rajdeep
Hyderabad: Senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai here on Sunday stressed the need for providing credible news to the people. He, however, said the newsprint was costlier and it cost Rs 40 to bring out each copy of a newspaper.
“If you can afford to pay the cost, you will get more authentic news,” he pointed out. Rajdeep Sardesai was speaking at a plenary ‘Media in the Age of Breaking News’ as part of the three-day Hyderabad Literary Festival here at Hyderabad Public School here on Sunday.
Making it clear that the news should be for public and not for politicians, he regretted that the news from Delhi and Haryana was dominating as national news. “National news means all channels should have their offices in every part - north, west, east, south and central.
Mostly non-important news is dominating. For example, due to Karni Sena issue, the film Padmavat got all the publicity. That is what they wanted. One important news from my home State Maharashtra did not make headlines. The news is of 2,000 farmers’ suicides,” he said.
