Key German machinery to reach site

Hyderabad: In a step forward towards the completion of main works in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project before the deadline in June this year, the State government certified a high-end advanced equipment manufactured by a Germany-based company which will be shipped to the State in February.

An official delegation from Irrigation and Energy Department went to Europe and studied the functioning of the equipment called Static Frequency Converters (SFC) which are the most important in the run of motor pumps to lift water from the project to canals. During their visit, the delegation members - Irrigation Chief Engineer Venkateswarlu, TSGENCO Director Venkatarajam and OSD to Irrigation Minister Sridhar Rao Deshpande - conducted tests on the efficiency of the SFCs at the manufacturing unit in Germany.

The equipped will be reached to the project site by this month end. Officials said that the SFCs met all technical parameters prescribed by the government to the manufacturing company. Convertors will be used for the effective management of power supply and the quality functioning of the pump sets to be installed at 20 places s across the project will be ensured.  

After the arrival of the consignment from Germany, another official team will go to China for the shipment of pump sets. The team will study the technological advances adopted in the manufacturing of the pump sets before bringing it to Telangana. 

An international electric company was manufacturing the pump sets, officials said, adding that the crucial stage in the completion of the project would be done once the pump sets were installed. The civil works including installation of power supply network, construction of canals and dams are already under progress.
