Union Budget demoralised Telangana people: Congress

Update: 2018-02-03 09:43 IST

Hyderabad: Stating that the budget introduced by the Centre on Thursday was a ‘budget of corporate forces and not of common man’s’, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Friday that the budget had demoralised the Telangana people.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Bhatti alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was misguiding the people with his words. “There was no link between Modi's words and his works. The committee appointed by the Centre to fix the expenditure on cotton growing calculated Rs 6,000 per quintal, but the Centre fixed Rs 4,000 per quintal as minimum support price. “How it could be minimum support price?  Was it correct on the part of Modi?” he asked.

“The Centre, which had failed to implement 2016-17 health insurance scheme, was now suddenly stating that it would provide Rs 5 lakh insurance. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitly’s budget was for namesake. Jaitly showed bare hands to Telugu States in the budget.

The Centre failed to fulfill the assurances given during division of the State though four years were gone. "Why did Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao fail to tell his opinion on the budget? Has Chandrashekar Rao colluded with Modi? Chandrashekar Rao is afraid of his mistakes as Modi may fix him. Is Modi threatening Chandrashekar Rao or Chandrashekar Rao himself is committing mistakes?” he questioned.

The then Congress government had accorded statehood to Telangana for the betterment of the people of the region. The Chief Minister was more interested in himself than the betterment of people. Chandrashekar Rao should perform his duties, he said and asked MP Kavitha, who stated that there was no future for Congress, to learn how many times the TRS lost elections.
