Hyderabad police recover antique idols worth Rs 3 crore, two held
Hyderabad Police on Sunday recovered antique idols worth Rs 3 crore. Two persons have been arrested on charges of stealing the idols.
The three idols were stolen from temples in Kamareddy town on January 27.
The Hyderabad and Kamareddy police conducted a joint operation to nab the thieves - Shaik Hyder and Shaik Aziza.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VV Srinivasa Rao revealed that the idols were about 600 years old and the accused had also been involved in similar crimes in the past.
He told the media that the duo used to steal idols from the temples and travel to Karanataka but later come back to Hyderabad to sell them.
The culprits have confessed their crime and were handed over to the Kamareddy Police for further investigation.
