Siddipet: Farming sector had been ignored and become hopeless in Telangana, said Political JAC chairman Prof K Kodandaram on Monday in Siddipet. Speaking at the meeting of Siddipet District Forum here, Kodandaram said agriculture sector and farmers were suffering due to lack of irrigation water throughout the year and they were not able to get remunerative prices for their produce in the market.

Farmers were not even getting any support from the government when they suffered from the crop damage by scant rainfall or other various reasons, he said. The government should help farmers in the State by suppling seeds and fertilisers on time at low rates and provide them the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops, said the JAC chairman, who took out a rally from the old bus stand to VAR Gardens after paying floral tributes to the statues of Ambedkar and Jyothirao Phule in the town. Agriculture was the main pillar of the country and the government should support the forlorn farmers in the State, said Kodandaram.
